Platypus Birthday Party Ideas

My son's b-day was Tuesday but his party was last night! I'm not a great cook/baker but I made an attempt to bake a Perry The Platypus cake he picked out!

Little sister was lots of help and we had fun. I think she just did it for the frosting!

Whether I'm a good baker or not the cake was a hit and he loved it. That's what matters to me!

I found a lot of neat party ideas online! I'll share these links below!

Julep Maven - Birthday Gift!

Warning....This post has nothing to do with crochet. I just wanted to take the opportunity to share a new product I love. I bought myself a non-crochet birthday present. My birthday is next week (Aug 14th) just incase you were wondering :)

My friend Rachel of Silly Stitches posted about her nail polish fetish and she had lots of pretty bottles! I saw a brand I didn't recognize called Julep! She had a lot of it LOL! So naturally I asked her about it. I found them on Facebook and saw lots of wonderful reviews and then I got sucked into all the pretties on their website!

They have this fun Nail Polish subscription and Rachel so kindly offered me lots of coupon codes she had! So I got a $19.99 intro maven box for free just had to pay shipping! That gorgeous box came into today! It had two full size nail polish colors that I picked from my maven profile (Classic with a Twist), A full size bottle of foot cream, and surprise a sample of hand scrub.

Subscriptions scare me but you can choose to skip months at anytime with out penalty and you can cancel at anytime. I've hear customer support is hard to get to but once you do they take super awesome care of you! I've ready a lot of great things about it! If you do choose to skip months you don't get to see what's in the secret store! I don't have the privilege of looking at it yet but I've read about mystery boxes with great things in them! I can't wait till I have access! Although if I end up with more polish than yarn I might get into trouble. Haha!

Why become a maven

1. You get three full sized products
2. A little surprise in every box
3. save 20% on everything in there online store
4. plus free shipping on every order

I was excited about my box and decided to order a few add ons and I also placed a separate order for a color I wanted just because well it was a birthday present and they sent me another coupon. LOL!

The group on the right is from my Maven intro box. The group on the left are my add ons.
I fell in love with America! It is glitter polish, red, blue, silver and little starts. I can't wait to get this polish on my nail! Now where is my remover!

I already have a bunch more stuff on my wish list and I'm excited about my next Maven box!

I know someone will ask but Nail polish featured in this post are as follows
1. Alaina
2. America
3. Dianna
4. Helen
5. Claudette

Okay so do you want to try it and get a free into box too. All you have to do is pay shipping and I think that was $3.99. Great price for all you get!
Click to the site below and use the coupon code

Lego Head Earflap Hat - Free Crochet Pattern

Today is a special day! It's my little guys 5th Birthday! I can hardly believe it! He's having a Lego Themed Birthday so I though it would be fun to make a Lego Head hat for him. Since it's chilly and I know he'd wear it a lot I made it with bulky yarn and tight stitches. Plus if you choose to make a more detailed lego face you have a good base to sew it on. I only had time to do one size and I made it to fit him specifically. Maybe soon I'll have more sizes for the base hat. I can tell you if your good at sizing you can still work the 1st few rows (1-4) the same and increase to size need from there. I tried a Nb-3 month to be sure and it's good. I hope you enjoy it!

Birthday Gift's Crocheters and Yarn Artists Would Love

I just wanted to say thanks so much for all the birthday wishes. Turning 30 is weird to me. I don't feel different but something about that number is troubling me! Oh well got to grow up sometime! LOL!

I got some fun gifts. A few I bought for myself that I'd been eyeballing for a while!

Check out this awesome bag my mom got me! It's from ThrityOne and I'm in love with it. I want to get a matching tote bag for all my crochet supplies. This is now my postage bag. They know me in the post office pretty well now and one of the regular mail ladies said it was a nice upgrade from the cardboard box I was using. LOL ! Something tells me it may get filled up with yarn though.

I finally bought some really cute stitch markers. I know I don't need them. I usually use a safety pin or a contrasting color of yarn but these are just to adorable. I purchased these from Day by Day Crochet. I asked her to make me five that matched my logo colors and she did them perfectly! Aren't they lovely! They are very light weight and don't pull on stitches. I have them hooked on my crochet coffee cup pin cushion so I don't lose them. haha!

This last gift I purchased myself is just for fun. It's a heart shaped yarn ball stamp with a crochet hook in it. I bought it from a cute shop called Hoffee and a Nuffin. She hand carves these herself. I thought it was great quality and turn around time was fast. You can find these and some other fun stamps in her etsy shop.

I picked up a rainbow colored ink pad and used my 2 inch circle punch with card stock and made these little thank you circles! I may just use it to add a special touch to my packages, but we'll see how crazy busy this fall/winter season gets!

So if you know any crocheters or other yarn artists. These would make really great gifts if you don't know what to get them besides well yarn....but you can't have to much of that right?

Do you have other ideas of gifts? Share in the comments below!

What's on New and on Sale this week!

Gooooood Morning! I hope your week is off to an awesome start. I have a busy week ahead with several orders to complete and I need to decide what patterns I want to tackle next. I have so many ideas I don't know where to start sometimes.

My joy and my inspiration for Calleigh's Clips came when I had my baby girl Calleigh. She isn't quiet a baby anymore. She's turning 3 this weekend. Many of you got to see a very funny side of her this week in my Mermaid Tail Outtakes video . If you have small children you'll relate especially if you've ever tried to record a video tutorial with kids around.

Speaking of the Mermaid! If you Pre-Orded the Pattern you might be surprised to see I've already sent them all out! If you didn't get yours just shoot me an email and we'll try again. If you've not purchased it yet I'm still leaving it on sale for $4.50 (ref. 5.95) through Wed. May 23rd. You can get an instant download in my ravelry shop. (discount applied at checkout)

Photography by : Emma June Photography

Since Calleigh will be turning  three I though the Pattern of the Week should be
the Cupcake Cuddle Cape set!

You can get that for $3.00 - through Saturday (automatic discount at checkout)

if you want both patterns you have to purchase separate to get discounts on both.

I should have one more new pattern to release by the end of the week. Just waiting to get some images back to add to the pattern. I may add it to Ravelry with out the pro pics and then just send out updates when it's ready but I've not decided yet. So just watch for a Facebook announcement soon!

The Crocodile/Alligator pattern

I know many of you saw the Beagle puppy I was asked to make for a custom order. I've had several emails asking if I'd be willing to write or add that into the Puppy Cape pattern.  I'm going to try to work on getting that added in the next couple week.  The only difference is color changes. The pattern itself isn't different. So it shouldn't be hard to for me to get done. I just need to get the yarn for it. Isn't it adorable. This hat pattern actually maybe one I try to right up in other sizes but don't hold me to it...LOL!

So with out me saying to much (don't like to share my ideas before hand)
What do you think I should do for the next cape design?

I'm thinking in these themes: Food, Flowers Royalty, or other under the sea animals/creatures
Suggestions are always welcome!

Have a great week!
