Button Star Earrings Tutorial

I'm in a crafty mood today. Button earrings are soooo easy! I've had the supplies but not made time to do it. With lots of Patriotic Holiday's coming Calleigh will be wearing lots of Red, White and Blue so I thought I'd make her some "pretties" as she calls them.

Button Star Earrings

Materials:

Small Star buttons - got them at Hobby Lobby in a variety pack (4th of July section)
Earring posts and back findings
Small rhinestones - in any color :)
Hot Glue Gun and glue sticks-

Supplies!

Step 1: Plug in your glue gun...(lol) I always forget.

*Put a small dab of hot glue on to the earring posts then glue on the star buttons

Step 2: I don't like my hot glue to show. It's just s pet peeve of mine. Your going to put a small dab of glue on the rhinestone and glue it over the button holes.

That's it! There you go! super cute star earrings!

I couldn't get Calleigh to smile here she is wearing them.

I have a few other earrings I've been meaning to put backs on.

These are a few I crocheted a while back that needed the findings attached. Simple but cute. I got the idea from Mandy over at Mandipidy. Two are the basic circle and the pair on the far right are my twist on them.

Free - Chain-less Foundation Headband Pattern

I find that many crocheters aren't familiar with a chain-less foundations. I think that it's a great technique especially for headbands. What the chain-less foundation stitch provides is a little extra stretch that a traditional chain doesn't. it's great for things that have to pulled over your head like sweaters, shirts, or ponchos. Here is a fabulous video from one of my favorite crochet blogs- The Art of Crochet by Teresa! Her videos and tutorials are all top notch and I recommend her to any one learning to crochet.

The easiest project to learn this stitch is a simple headband. It can be made any size using any yarn and appropriate hook

Materials I'll be using:

Worsted Weight yarn acrylic or cotton (4) - I love this yarn by Hobby Lobby
Measuring tape
Tapestry needle

General sizing: When measuring measure how you would normally wear a headband not like you would  a hat or cap. It tends to be a little larger than a hat measurement but not by too much.

Newborn -- 13"
0-3 months -- 14-15"
3-6 months -- 15-17"
6-12 months -- 16-19"
Toddler (1-3 yrs) -- 18-20"
Child (4-10 yrs) -- 19-22"
Adult -- 21-24"

Headband Pattern:

Do the Chain-less foundation until it's the length you need (un-stretched), join to form a circle, weave in ends.

Note: I find that this technique will give you about 2 inches of extra stretch.

Then you can add a crochet flower or any applique you choose like my owl. When you sew on the applique put it in the spot where you joined. It will hide the seam :)

Here are a few I've made and sell in my shop!

You can also do sc and dc chain-less foundations for a thinner or thicker headband. More videos for these can be found on Teresa's blog. Try them all and see how you can use them in your next projects!

I hope you are able to learn a new not so well known technique! Feel free to share you projects with me! I love to see what you do!

I hope you love it as much as I do.  If you do sell items made from this pattern I just ask that you link back to me :)

Enjoy!

Holiday Happenings

Tis' a busy season.  As this year draws to a close I think back on how my little business adventure has grown and the different directions it's taken. I can't believe it's been almost a year since I started Calleigh's Clips and Crochet Creations. I can't be more please with the success I've had and thank the Lord for the talents he's given me and a wonderful mom that encourages me to do what I do.

With this being the first holiday season I've endured I got a little nervous for last minute shoppers. I've squeezed in several large last minute projects and am thankful those will all be in the mail tomorrow just in time for Christmas. I'm so please many of you have chosen our items to give as gifts for the Holidays. I think Handmade is always a little more meaningful but keep in mind it does take longer to make so as you plan for next year. Order early because I'm positive I'll have a closer cut off date to prevent a little less stress on me :).

I wanted to share a few new items I got to create:

Set of bear hats for sisters , I made a teddy bear hat for there little brother too! I just love the fuzzy ears on the Koala and Panda hats!

Lots of head wraps ! These are super popular this year. I'm so glad I wrote up a pattern myself for these and they are a best seller

Look at all the fun colors I got to make for a large order and I loved that the customer wanted other appliques

I used flowers, hearts, & stars, but would look great with as snowflake or dots too!

This was a hat I made my Calleigh for her Christmas dress. She wore it to church today and got lots of compliments! I love showing off my creations on my baby girl! She just to cute but I'm partial ;)

Wreath Hat

Merry Christmas!

Thanks for Making this year such a big success and I look forward to the next!

New to my Esty....

I've been a blog slacker the last week or so but I've been busy crocheting lots of bigger orders for Christmas and Photographers. I'm so excited because I set a goal for my November Sales and we'll I never thought I'd actually reach it and not only did I but a little more and the end of the month and busiest shopping weekend isn't even over. I'm just so thankful for all of my customers and for those of you who have encouraged me to keep going!

I thought I'd share a few new crochet items  I tried while traveling this week.

First - My Mom of Posh Pooch Designs writes lots of patterns and I get the honor of testing them! She recently wrote two new pattern for a mobius scarf and fingerless gloves. These patterns or finished product can be purchased in the etsy shop we share

I used my favorite pattern for the Beanie - Divine Hat. the yarn is called Gelato stripe by I Love this Yarn! The colors are just so fun I love the pops of orange and green! If you interested in purchasing the set shown it's ready to ship and can be found here

I also tried something new it's a flower hot pad or trivet ! Inspired by peppermint! I don't think I did it exactly like the picture showed but I like the way it came out either way! I'll definitely try it again!

Have a great weekend everyone! Don't forget everything in my etsy and artfire shops are 10% off through Monday!

Create Crochet Etsy Team

Well I've been selling on Etsy for four months now and I have to say so far I'm not disappointed. I was really nervous to jump into such a large online selling venue and so far it's paid off.

Etsy have several teams you can join up there all made up of Etsy sellers. I browsed through many and decided to join up with the Create Crochet Etsy Team. I have to say it was one of the best things ever. I've meet some really great and talented people from all over the world. Everyone is such an encouragement and I've learned a lot of different things from different people. I love the feedback on my items. Plus it's nice to know there are other people in the world that are as addicted to crocheting as I am . LOL!

Etsy give out grants to each team ever month and Our Team won this month! You can read about that here. I'm so proud of all the hard work our leaders, helpers, members and volunteers have put into this team.

Our team has challenges every month and this is the first month I've been able to participate. Our theme is for breast cancer awareness. Since we won the grant the team will be picking 10 winners and they'll each get a prize! You can read more about our team and events we've been a part of this year here.

I entered my pink-a-boo puppy. So when It comes time to vote tomorrow! You'll have to help me out!! You can vote on the Create Crochet Etsy Team Blog.

I look forward to being a part of this team for a long time! Congrats team and keep up the good work!
