Top 10 Posts of 2010

As the first year of my blogging comes to a close I thought It would be fun to look back at my most popular posts and some of my favorites. I'll just do 10 since I have alot of favorites. Some will be about family, some about projects, and of course crochet.

Thanks for making this a fun 2010 of blogging for me. I have lots more in store for 2011!

Happy New Year!

Shout out - Erin Tagle Designs

I recently participated in The handmade gift exchange host by Craftaholics Anonymous. If you don't follow her blog you should it's fantastic:

I got to exchange gifts with a great designer. Her name is Erin Tagle of Erin Tagle Designs.

She makes adorable clothing for little diva's and dudes. From Dresses , shoes, headbands and onsies. You can check out a few of her designs in her Etsy shop.

Here are a few things I received from her in the gift exchange!

I received this adorable apron. I love the colors, prints, and trim. It is very well crafted.

This was my favorite item. It's a silk flower ribbon belt. I've worn it a ton already and gotten tons of compliments. It has  long satin ribbon ties so it can fit anyone and if you need shorter ties just trim it down. It is very well put together. the flowers are sewn to felt backing which gives  is some support and not floppy.

She also included these crayon mold for the kiddos. I stuffed them in there stockings  for Christmas :)

Thanks Erin for such adorable items! I hope you'll check her out too!

I thrilled to announce I finally wrote down a new pattern. I released it on Christmas Eve and have already sold a few. I've called it the Addison headband after Calleigh's cousin Addy. It's great for a beginner with basic crochet skills. I love the lacy look of it. They look great in any color  and go great with any detachable bows, clips and crochet flowers. This pattern does included a basic Crochet flower.

This pattern can be made in anysize from Newborn to Womens. I've included approximate measurements for each size in the instructions.

I hope you love it as much as I do. You do have permission to sell items make from this pattern but not the pattern itself. If you do sell items I just ask that you link back to me :)

a peek at our Christmas

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Our day was spent with family, a few presents, lots of fun memories and a ton of tasty food.

Ayden and Calleigh were thrilled with their Kitchen and Workbench but Ayden loves his train best.

After our Christmas we had fun at Gee- Gee and Pops with the cousins on the 4- wheeler

Check out Ayden's stocking cap. He picked out the colors ;)

I had fun making lots of crochet gifts for family! They all loved them! We had a blessed Christmas and I'm sad to see the season pass but I'm excited for the new years and new ideas to come.

A walk down Memory Lane

As I make hats often I was thinking I never really wear them. I love to create and make them though. Guess I just need to make one special for me. It hard to find time to do that though.

I thought I'd share a memory of a time I didn't wear a hat and should have. When I has in Middle School we lived in Rapid City, SD. The winters definitely get cold but back then they didn't have a bus system so we would walk to school. I seriously had to walk up hill both ways in the cold snowy winters. One day for some reason in the blowing snow I didn't want to wear a hat so I didn't. (bad idea) I got to school and one of my ears was just on fire from the wind burn. I remember sitting in History class thinking I was going to be in big trouble. After class I went down to the office and called my dad and he came and got me from school. I don't remember really getting in trouble or even going to the doctor. I just remember dad taking the day off work and we went bowling and got chili cheese fries. So really it turned out to be a good day. My ear was fine just a little frost bite. So moral of this story keep those hats on! :)

Do you like hats? What Kind?

Holiday Happenings

Tis' a busy season.  As this year draws to a close I think back on how my little business adventure has grown and the different directions it's taken. I can't believe it's been almost a year since I started Calleigh's Clips and Crochet Creations. I can't be more please with the success I've had and thank the Lord for the talents he's given me and a wonderful mom that encourages me to do what I do.

With this being the first holiday season I've endured I got a little nervous for last minute shoppers. I've squeezed in several large last minute projects and am thankful those will all be in the mail tomorrow just in time for Christmas. I'm so please many of you have chosen our items to give as gifts for the Holidays. I think Handmade is always a little more meaningful but keep in mind it does take longer to make so as you plan for next year. Order early because I'm positive I'll have a closer cut off date to prevent a little less stress on me :).

I wanted to share a few new items I got to create:

Set of bear hats for sisters , I made a teddy bear hat for there little brother too! I just love the fuzzy ears on the Koala and Panda hats!

Lots of head wraps ! These are super popular this year. I'm so glad I wrote up a pattern myself for these and they are a best seller

Look at all the fun colors I got to make for a large order and I loved that the customer wanted other appliques

I used flowers, hearts, & stars, but would look great with as snowflake or dots too!

This was a hat I made my Calleigh for her Christmas dress. She wore it to church today and got lots of compliments! I love showing off my creations on my baby girl! She just to cute but I'm partial ;)

Merry Christmas!

Thanks for Making this year such a big success and I look forward to the next!

Precious Memories

Today marks a bittersweet day. It's been 3 years since my Grandmother on my Dad's side lost a long battle with cancer. I spent many summers with my grandparents as a young child. I have fun memories of learning to swim, bad hair cuts and perms, one great summer in South Carolina, good times on road trips and her love of crochet. She always crochet lovely dresses for dolls, blankets. I remember seeing many crochet afghans in her closets and thinking I wish I could do that.

I have several afghans that my grandmother made me. One was for me when I went off to college. It was my favorite to curl up in with long nights of homework. Another afghan that is very special to me is one she made for my first born Ayden. I was 8 months pregnant when she passed away but she finished that blanket just for him even though she never got to meet him. I will always cherish it. I didn't get to go to funeral because it just wasn't safe for me to travel that far that late in the pregnancy. I wished I could have gone! She has a wonderful big family I would love to have met, but  I'm glad I've gotten to know a few of them through facebook.

I say all that today because I think even though it was my mom that taught me to crochet I'm sure the desire started from seeing all the works my grandmother created. I'm so thankful I come from a craft family and I hope to teach my little Calleigh to crochet someday :)

I praise the Lord for the hope of Salvation and because of that Salvation I will see her again in Heaven some day. Love you Grandma!

Mini Craft Fair

This weekend I participated in a Mini Craft Fair. It was mainly a group of us from the church I attend (Southwest Baptist Church OKC, OK.) We had a good number of participants from Scentsy, Pampered Chef, Beauty Control, Premier Jewelry, and then some small WAHM business such as Lil' Goody TuTu's Boutique, Emily's Unique Boutique, Posh Pooch Designs Dog Clothes, Public Safety Survival Bracelets, my Shop and a few other crafters that sold items for fun.

We didn't have a fabulous turn out but we had lots of fun, food and fellowship! If anything I got to know some of the ladies better and met some new people to network with.

I don't normally do big craft shows because I'm fearful of spending money to rent a spot and not make the money back, so the idea of this was lots of fun since I didn't have to rent a spot and with the few sales I did make and the new acquaintances that were made it was worth it to me. I look forward to trying it again in the future!

Our biggest eye catchers were the owl hats of course, along with the head wraps and cotton wash clothes.

I've linked up a few of the shops above! Check them out while your here.

Thank you Jenni and Emily for putting it all together!

Facebook Page Notifier

Happy Friday! To those of you that have facebook fan pages. We all I think were recently frustrated when Facebook removed the ability to view photo comments. It makes running business through facebook more difficult. I went through and tagged myself in every photo but I'm still not getting every comment. I hate to think I'd miss a question or order.

I recently came across a Facebook app called Page Notifier . I'm always leery of the pages I add but with a little research I found this is FABULOUS! You can use page notifiers free service to have your Fan page scanned once every 24 hrs. It scans for not only photo comments but all comments. So you'll never have to miss a comment again! I'm thrilled with the service. They of course have options you can pay for to have your page scanned more often but I'm happy with free for now.

I did have a little trouble setting up but when I contacted the developer I got help within an hour. I was very please with the customer service and it's working great for me! So check it out because I know you'll love it!

Fall Festivities

Last week was a busy week around my house! We had lots of fun activities planned. We went trick or treating at the Harn Homestead. They have candy, games, face painting, a bonfire with marshmallows and hayrides. The kids just love it all!

My little cowboy and purple kitty!
Calleigh's Kitty face ready for that candy!

Friday we took the kids to Chesters Party Barn- the Pumpkin Patch where the kiddos walked through the petting zoo, feed the animals had pony rides, corn maze and got to pick out a pumpkin.

Ayden had fun helping Daddy with his Mr. Pumpkin Head

Friday night is our family night with Gee-Gee, Pops and all my husbands side of the family whom I love dearly. I couldn't have married into a better family!  We attempted some fun fall pictures with the five cousins but if you can imagine getting 5 kids under five to take a picture is quiet a challenge :)

Hope you enjoy a few pictures! It was hard to choose just a few !
