End of the Season Sale

Can you believe 2014 is almost over? Time flies by when your having fun! This year was full of lots of big changes for me and my business and looking back I wouldn't change a thing. I'm excited for the new year. New designs, new directions, and more blogging!

Before the year ends I think It's time for one more big sale for 2014!

All Patterns in Ravelry are 75% off!
That's $1.50 or less each!

Just use the code:
HAPPYNEWYEAR

When does this sale end?
Well that is up to you!

Can be honest I'm still working on some major medical bills we got this summer.  I realllllllly need to pay them off. Lets just say if 1/2 of my Facebook fans bought one pattern it would lift a huge burden off my family.  So these patterns will be on sale until I reach a goal. It may be a couple days or it could take up through the rest of the year. So for now The sale will stay live through the end of the 2014 unless I reach my personal goal of sales!

PS. Don't forget I have 11 Pattern retiring at the end of the year. They will be filed away. Some will get major changes and others will be gone for good. They will not disappear from your Raverly Libraries. Don't worry! They will be in raverly forever just not purchasable again to new buyers.
You can find those listed here

Thank you so much for being a part of Calleigh's Clips and Crochet Creations in 2014!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Winter Berry Cowl - Free Crochet Pattern

I was so excited when I was asked to design a crochet pattern for the Stitch & Unwind Blog. They just ask for design for Winter! I was on a cowl kick and wanted something lacey and soft. I was drawn to some lovely pale winter shades of purple. I think the cowl came out gorgeous and I know you'll love it too!

Winter Berry Scarf

You can find the pattern on the Stitch and Unwind Blog

I hope you love this as much as I enjoyed designing it!

Meet Lucy and New Decorative Christmas Headpiece

So my hubby texts me a picture of a dog yesterday - "found this adorable little dog running around in the street by the gas station across town" No tags or collar. The gas station said she'd been around for days.  (I'm thinking oh no we can't have a dog, we aren't supposed to in the rent house we have.)
My hubby is a sucker for rescuing dogs.

We had tried the whole dog thing before but mainly larger dogs and I just didn't have time to properly train puppies or they didn't work out with the kids and such. We've re-homed two dogs when we had to move suddenly about a year and half ago. I said I would never do a dog again and thought sorry dear this isn't happening. Meanwhile he called our landlord and he said "well if she's small I think it will be okay!" and thus we have a new puppy!

I wasn't too excited about it but then I met her and I've fallen in love already! Got her all cleaned up and spent the rest of the evening with her. She is so quiet and sweet. I've yet to hear her bark. She loves the kids. Is going potty likes she's supposed to and she snuggled with us all night long. We still need to get her to the vet for a check up and see if she might be chipped.

We didn't want to go with a Christmas type name for her and it took us a long time to decide but we went with Lucy. My son loves Legos and the latest Lego movie with Emmet and Wildstyle. Wildstyles' real name was Lucy so that's where it came from LOL.

Now if you know anything about me you know my mom is a crochet designer for dogs-
She is super jealous because she secretly wanting a little Black Chihuahua. I'm pretty sure that's what this little darling is.
I told her she can't steal my new doggie and she would love her because Lucy didn't mind modeling a little hat I made her.

I hope you enjoy this pattern. It's basically the same as my
Decorative Pumpkin Headpiece base with color changes and a little ball on top!

Lace up with Liz - Calories and Crochet

If you've followed with me some this year you'll know I started a journey to get fit! I took up running and eating healthier! I'm so excited that I've lost 65 pounds and that even with the holiday season upon us I'm managing to maintain. It can be a hard time of year!

This month I'm determined to get 10K steps a day with my Fitbit! They've added Challenge groups so now I have competition with other friends! I want to win but I got work to do!!

So, I've heard it said you can burn 100 calories in an hr while crocheting - (Crochet Spot.) I don't know how accurate that is but today I thought I'd try something new! I was walking with a running buddy the other day and she mentioned seeing a guy once crocheting/knitting while running a marathon. I thought that would be so cool but I need a friend to run with that would hold my yarn LOL!

My good friend recently gave me her old treadmill so today I thought that spot for my water would hold a crochet skien nicely. Why not crochet while I walk? It was a run rest day but I still wanted to get in those steps!

(don't worry I stopped the treadmill to take the picture!)
I walked for 60 minutes, not super fast but did increase my pace as I got comfortable. I would say you need to work on something you don't have to look at closely. I've been wanting to make my favorite hat (Key Tab Slouch -free pattern) in a new color.

In that hr. I waked 2.6 miles and got the brim of the hat done. It flew by really fast actually! I was doing two things I really enjoy doing!!

If you do it just be careful that your yarn is secure and not hanging down! I did pull the safety key out once when I wasn't paying attention to the walking lol!

So maybe I burned an extra 100 calories since I was multitasking! Who knows!

Here is my new Before and After pic too!
They have these huge ornament decorations downtown and we like to do family pics down there!

I just like to joke that the hanger looks like a giant crochet hook!

So what ways do you like to exercise?
Do you do anything special while you crochet to keep moving?

Pattern Feature - Sparkles the Unicorn Cowl

My awesome crochet buddy Rachel over at Silly Stitches just released a magical cowl pattern.

photo used with permission from Silly Stitches
I had the honor of testing it for her.
I'm on a yarn freeze so I had to get creative with what I had on hand.
So my colors aren't as perfect but I still love the way it turned out!

I love working with bulky yarn and large hooks. It's a very simple pattern to follow!
I think it would make a perfect halloween costume if it's going to be cold where you are!
It's cozy, warm and fun!
If the girls in your life are as obsessed with anything pony like my 6 year old the possibilities for color combinations are endless!

My little Calleigh is so petite that I should have made her the toddler size, but it fit my 6 year old boy perfectly!! The bow on mine is huge but we adjusted that down for the pattern,
but I love that it's big and whimsical! She loved it and we had fun taking pics!

Rachel is offering 25% off all her single patterns in
  Ravelry
(e-books and sets not included)

Use the code  - magic at checkout
Coupon good Wed Oct 29th- Sat Oct 31st (ends midnight central)

Whatever Wednesday - Lace Up With Liz Update

This is more of a personal post but I like to share my health and fitness journey from time to time!
If you want to read the full story of the past year you can visit this previous blog post

In September I reached a huge Goal of losing 62 pounds! I still have 10 to hit my personal goal and this past month I've kind of been at a stand still. I was training for a 1/2 marathon and I think after a 8 mile training run I got a stress fracture in my foot! Not much I could do but to stop and rest for a few weeks!

I ran almost 80 miles in September and well I've only done 1.8 miles in October. Yikes! I feel so off! I'm not going to run the Route 66 1/2 in November because I just don't have a funds right now so I think I will go back and do my 10K training again just incase I need to build my base up more. I will run the OKC Memorial 1/2 marathon in April! I'm so excited about it and I think that race will mean so much more to me for so many reasons!

I've been up and down a couple pounds the past 30 days but I'm kind surprised I haven't gained more! It's like when I hurt my foot I let it all go, eating good and other exercise included! I need a kick in the booty and to get myself back in gear. The kids are on Fall break so I'm going to enjoy some extra time with them and then I'm getting back to it next Tuesday!

Anyhoo, Got a much needed hair cut and color yesterday so I thought it would be good to get some current before/after pics! What a difference a day makes.

Thursday Yarn Talk - Turtles, Owls and Skulls

It's busy season around here with Halloween and Christmas orders coming in! I love this time of year because I often get unique custom orders. I love making something new!

While I've made literally 100s of Turtles, I got a request to make one in new colors! This little guy was designed to look like Squirt from Finding Nemo.

I used my Original Hatching Turtle Cuddle Critter Cape pattern. The only difference is color choices and adding a few random size circles to the hat.
I used Vanna's Choice Worsted in Mustard, Rust, Toffee and Dusty Green if you want to make one too.

Owl Hats are still an old favorite! There is just something whimsical about those big eyes!
This is one of my favorite color combos for a natural Snow Owl look!
This pattern is from Inner Hooker.

This last hat wasn't an order I've just been dying to make it! So I whipped one up for my hubby.

He didn't want a slouchy so I worked it up beanie style. I didn't change hook sizes as recommend and use a F-Hook for the entire hat. For the closing of the hat I just worked a few rows of sc around decreasing down and then cinched it shut. I used Vanna's Choice Worsted in pearl mist and black.

The hat looked challenging but it's wasn't. The construction of the design is amazing and unique! It wasn't difficult at all. I really enjoyed making it! It's well worth the $1.00 for the pattern.

Have you made any of these patterns? Which one do you want to make? Feel free to comment below!

I'm working on a fun new design that I hope to share next week! So be sure to check back!
