New Calleigh Cloche

Spring time is almost here!!! I love making my Calleigh a fun spring time hat around Easter time.
I found some cotton yarn in my stash I'd purchased over a year ago for another project that I didn't do. The yarn color matched the new outfit she had perfectly so I went to work designing!
I really love this cloche and so did she! I hope you will enjoy it too!

It's a pretty basic hat at the start with some added texture and floral detailing
just perfect for the season.

Calleigh's Comfy Headwrap Crochet Pattern

I'm excited to let you know that I'm retiring the 1st paid pattern I ever wrote! It will now be a freebie on the blog and I hope you enjoy it! It's been updated and retested. Wow have I learned a lot as a designer over these past 4 years! I hope you will enjoy this simple headwrap pattern.

I was thinking it was a silly time of year for a head wrap being spring and all but even though it was almost 90 degrees  this weekend in OKC, it's in the 30's this morning with a chance of snow! I wore my head wrap to the bus stop this morning! You can also make it in cotton for a fun spring accessory!

Hatchlings, Owls and Daisy!

Over the weekend I was able to get my two of my latest patterns edited and released. Check them out!

Hatchling Turtle - Cuddle Critter Cape -
Newborn Photography Prop

Owlette Owl- Cuddle Critter Cape -
Newborn Photography Prop

These can both be purchased for an instant download via Ravelry here or you can always purchase in my Etsy Shop

Speaking of Etsy I hit my 200th sale this weekend. Pattern sales are definitely the place to be. I took me a  year to get 100 sales but only two weeks to hit 200 and I'm absolutely thrilled with how much you love these newborn cape set. I have so many more in the works. I have trouble knowing which ones to do next and yet make on more unique than the last.

I recently bought a new pattern. I've been wanting a great bonnet pattern. I bought a few and tried a few free ones and they just weren't working for me. So I when a different route and bought a pattern by the Inner Hooker (One of my favorite pattern writers) for the Flower bonnet. It worked up perfectly. I didn't have enough handspun merino on hand so I thought I'd try a different yarn (Yarn bee - Chincilla). This is what I came up with. I'm not sure what I think about it. What do you think?

I'm trying to think of a fun design for a cape to go with it.
I have in the works, a zebra, Sock monkey and dinosaur......and so many more ideas written out! I can't wait to design more. Many have asked for a butterfly and I think I've finally pinned down what to do for it. Can't wait to see how it comes out.

Hope you've had a great Memorial Day! I've not even touched my hook. Spent the day outside in the warm weather in the sprinkler with the kiddos.

The Addison Headband

UPDATED BLOG POST
THIS IS NOW A FREE PATTERN

~     ~     ~

I thrilled to announce I finally wrote down a new pattern. I released it on Christmas Eve and have already sold a few. I've called it the Addison headband after Calleigh's cousin Addy. It's great for a beginner with basic crochet skills. I love the lacy look of it. They look great in any color  and go great with any detachable bows, clips and crochet flowers. This pattern does included a basic Crochet flower.

This pattern can be made in anysize from Newborn to Womens. I've included approximate measurements for each size in the instructions.

I hope you love it as much as I do. You do have permission to sell items make from this pattern but not the pattern itself. If you do sell items I just ask that you link back to me :)

Sewing & Shirring

Today I spent the evening sewing. I made a regular bandana dress but had to size it down for a 12 month old, a halloween themed bandana/pillowcase style dress for a 4 year old and then I had a plan to repurpose the Breast Cancer Bandana Dress with a new method called Shirring.

Shirring is sewing with elastic thread in the bobbin which causes the fabric to gather up. I've never done it but had seen several people posting tutorials for it. I don't think I did very good for the first time but I'm excited to try it again

I hadn't tried an actual pillowcase dress so I this is the first time I  put in armholes.  I think it looks so much cleaner than a regular bandana dress. Isn't this fabric adorable.

I also made my first fabric flower! I found this awesome blog that will show you 31 different types of flower to try!
Pink Paper Peppermints

Here is the breast cancer dress I did the shirring on.

I'm finding so many fun things I want to sew! Can't wait to share them with you!

Bright Colors Cotton Cluster Beanie

I recently won a crochet pattern from The Speckled Frog. I've bought a few from her in the past and I always love them . I had lots of fun summer cotton colors left over in small amounts so I thought I thought I would come up with a way to use them together. This is what I came up with.

Don't you just love the flower cluster. I had a free pattern for them but I can't find the link. I think it was a limited time free one. Sorry ;(

I just love the way it turned out!

Yo Yo Puffs

I was looking for new ideas today and came across this crochet Yo Yo Puff Pattern. I have made ribbon rosettes which are similar and are gaining popularity in the bow making world. I don't care to make the ribbon ones but I will.  I just really liked the crochet yo yos. I made several today and the possibilities are endless. I'll be making more of these to attach to hats and headbands and I'll also make regular clips too. I'm going to make up a bunch and try to make a skull cap out of them I think it will be super cute. If you like retro then these are totally for you!

Shell Stitch Beanie

I found this great new crochet pattern for a hat today. I needed something new! You can find the pattern here - Shell Stitch Beanie

It's called the shell stitch beanie. I think the stitching makes it look elegant and sophisticated. The flower just adds the extra girly touch.  Plus it's detachable and can be used in hair or other interchangeable headbands and hats This one is 0-3 months but can be made in any size and a variety of other colors.
