My Latest Crochet Creations

I've had the chance to sit down and work up a few fun projects!

This 1st picture is a basic slouchy in hot pink. With Oct being Breast Cancer Awareness by hubby likes to play it up big and wear lots of pink. LOL! He works outside so He asked me to make a slouchy hat to keep warm, to go with his hot pink high tops! Seriously. He cracks me up, but he says "Real men can wear pink too" I don't mind. Breast Cancer Awareness is important and unfortunately is was one of the factors in my Granny's passing.earlier this year. I've been thinking about her a lot lately. She is truly missed, but I've been wearing a lot of pink in honor of her memory this month!

I tried to get a pick of the hubby wearing it but he's been pretty busy. So if I get one I'll be sure to add it to the post! :)

Here I am modeling it for you! It's just a simple cozy slouchy!

It's a Freebie pattern on my blog and was one of the top 100 designs on Allfreecrochet last year.
It is the Universal Slouchy or as I called it the Sunset Slouchy - All Free Crochet likes to change up names sometimes on the site :) You can get the pattern here.

My 2nd project is another one of these lovely Stairs Shawl by A La Sascha!
This time I used Bernat Mosaic yarn.
You can find out more about this project on Ravelry.
I love these dark jewel tones.
I wrapped my Calleigh up in it! She thought it was quite cozy.
I'm going to have to work one up in her size!

I'm working up another hat to go with this shawl using the same yarn with my newest
Free Slouchy pattern: The Key Tab Slouch
I'm sure it's going to be gorgeous! Just need to find time to finish it!
I can't wait to see how the colors work up!

Pink Poodle Cuddle Critter Cape

It's a very busy time of year for me but October is an important month to me because it's Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Most people know someone with breast cancer. Last year my Grandmother was fighting it and won the battle. I made a darling little pink-a boo puppy in her honor and you can read more about her story and the puppy here:

This year I was trying to think of what to make and since Critter Capes are my speciality I had to do something. What's more perfect than a Pink Poodle. Michaels had some specialty pom pom yarn just for Breast Cancer Awareness month that was hot pink and I knew it would be perfect! ( It may be hard to find later but I'll have other options with a variegated pink pom pom yarn or other fun colors) I finally made some time to make this set up last night! I love it!

This set will be for sale soon and the pattern will be available to make your own hopefully in a week or two. I can't wait to see this on a baby!!

Race for the Cure - Granny's Gang

This weekend I had the privilege to participate in the Race for the Cure in Tulsa, OK. My Grandmother is currently going through chemo treatment for Breast Cancer so we thought what better way to encourage her and others than to participate in this event. We have 15 family members and a few friends come out early Saturday morning for Granny's Gang. The weather was beautiful not to hot and little humidity which can be rare in Oklahoma. We all participated in different ways. My cousin loves to run so he did the timed 5K. Several of them did the un-timed 5K and most all of us did the 1K.

If you'd like to find out more how you can participate you can visit Susan G. Komen for the Cure Website. There will be an upcoming Race for the Cure Event in Oklahoma City, OK on Oct 9th.

Here are some fun photos from our day!

It was a wonderful day and I hope it encouraged my Grandmother and the thousands of other that were there! She has 1 more Chemo treatment and is doing well so far. If you can't run or walk for the cure you can always find a way to support. It's as easy as buying  yogurt with the pink lids and mailing them in.

Sewing & Shirring

Today I spent the evening sewing. I made a regular bandana dress but had to size it down for a 12 month old, a halloween themed bandana/pillowcase style dress for a 4 year old and then I had a plan to repurpose the Breast Cancer Bandana Dress with a new method called Shirring.

Shirring is sewing with elastic thread in the bobbin which causes the fabric to gather up. I've never done it but had seen several people posting tutorials for it. I don't think I did very good for the first time but I'm excited to try it again

I hadn't tried an actual pillowcase dress so I this is the first time I  put in armholes.  I think it looks so much cleaner than a regular bandana dress. Isn't this fabric adorable.

I also made my first fabric flower! I found this awesome blog that will show you 31 different types of flower to try!
Pink Paper Peppermints

Here is the breast cancer dress I did the shirring on.

I'm finding so many fun things I want to sew! Can't wait to share them with you!

So keep an eye out on our facebook fan page and blog.

These are one of my favorite hats. I just love that it's simple with a little bit of elegance. Calleigh and I always get compliments on this hat and they make a great addition to anyones fall/winter wardrobe. These aren't just for little girls they can be made for us Ladies too! I'm going to make on for my Grandmother who is going through Cemo Treatments for Breast Cancer. I know she'll love it!

This is our Breast Cancer Awareness Reversible Bandana dress. Cancer is something I pray you never have to deal with but I think every single one of us know someone with it. It's close to my heart because My Grandma on my Dad's side passes away a couple years ago from a long fight with Cancer. This post is dedicated to Breast Cancer though because my Grandma on my Moms side is now dealing with it. She'll be starting her Chemo in the next few weeks and it's going to be a long hard journey.

My mother of Posh Pooch Designs Dog Clothes is trying to help my Grandma raise $300 dollars for gas money for all the trips she has to take back and forth for her treatments. We're half way there and I had to try to find a way to contribute.
