Thin Blue Line Beanie Crochet Pattern

Today is a exciting yet sad day for me! My sweet hubby has been working at Hobby Lobby Corp. for 5 years! Today is his last day! I'm sure going to miss my discount!  Aside from that this is a wonderful change for my hubby and our family!

My hubby has been working very hard at Hobby Lobby in transportation, part time as a reserve policy officer and going to academy this past year. He graduated a few months back but He will officially start as a full time officer Jan 2016. I'm very proud of him.  He's wanted to be an officer for as long as we've been together and I'm so glad to see his dream finally come true!

These changes bring on more changes in the next few month but I'll share those as they come about! I see a move by next summer and some adjustment as schedules change and such! I don't mine change but the next few months are going to be a bit of a roller coaster.

My hubby asked me to make some hats for some of his officer buddies for Christmas.
So I thought I'd write up a simple pattern for a Thin Blue Line Beanie.

It works up quick and is an average Man/Women Size Beanie.
I may add sizes as I have time but for now it's just the one.

I hope you will make these in support of our Police Officers or for an Officer you know!
They sure need to know we stand by them!

Thursday Yarn Talk - Offshore Beanie

Offshore Beanie Review!

I looove Playin' Hooky Designs! I found Liz back when I first started on Etsy in a Crochet Etsy Team. I don't know her personally but I sure would like to meet her some day. If I would have planned ahead this summer while in Colorado I could have! We visited the same yarn shop!! LOL. She is a great designer and super unique. I probably have about 10 of her patterns and I like them all!

The Offshore Beanie popped up in my news feed and my hubby saw it! He's like " You need that pattern! Can you make it for me?" Me - "of course I can!" I don't need an excuse to try a new pattern.

So I gladly made the purchase. I was excited because the stitching looked fun and unique. The hardest part was just picking out the colors. I went with Vanna's Choice because no matter what the colors always work together and I have ton of it. I picked some darker "manly" shades and I like how it came out! Hubby loves his new hat but he doesn't like to do pics so I'll be your model today :)

The pattern is well written. Lots of pics, stitch explanations and tutorials to help you through. It also has an option for a slouch or beanie. I love slouchy!!
It's not as complicated as it might look. It was simple and worked up fairly quickly too.

You can find it in Adult size & Kids size
If you like the stitch then you may want to check out the darling leg warmers and dress too!

So check out her designs! You will love them all!

Side Note:
Yes I know it's Friday! I've been working hard on trying to blog at least two days a week since school started but yesterday I blogged about my new pattern release and kinda forgot it was Thursday!

Did you see it? If not click here. If you tried to use the coupon link yesterday and it didn't work. I didn't realize I had the wrong link soooo. It's working now!
Thanks for everyone that has picked it up so far!

Crochet Pattern - Peek-A-Boo Britches Set

I'm so very excited about my newest pattern release! The Peek-A-Boo Britches Set

This pattern has long been coming! One of my fabulous testers (Jennifer N.) came to me with an idea for a pattern back in May...yeah May! It got set aside after a big move and busy summer and I thought it would be a perfect pattern for fall.

I know that you all will love the pattern but will also notice the pattern is slightly different than my regular style with Jennifer's special touches and ideas added into it!

The pants feature and actual working drop seat, no jogging seams in those pant legs. You'll learn some simple technics you might have not tried before. It is ranked intermediate because of the post stitches but you can do it!!

The hat is a simple dc beanie with an optional pocket square for embellishment.

I think these would work great for christmas! Maybe Santa's long underwear :) LOL!

I can't wait to see what you make! You can read more details in Ravelry

This new pattern is on Sale in Raverly
Sept 23rd - Sept 25th at Midnight Central

Use coupon code at checkout to get the pattern for $3.95 (reg. $5.95)

Giveaway!!!
A few lucky purchasers will win a refund for a free pattern of choice!
Winners will be chosen on Friday!

Learning to Knook

Have you ever heard of a knook?

It's pretty new in the last few years I think. I've wanted to try it but I didn't hear great things about it. It's like knitting with a crochet hook. My friend Nicole over at Boomer Beanies said I needed to try it and leant me her J Hook one :) She knows I like bigger sizes hooks!

So I had to try it. She showed me a few things but I didn't do it right away so I just looked online for tutorials. There aren't many but the best I found are on the Leisure Arts Website and found some great videos to help you learn. I quickly learned how to knit and purl with the hook. I didn't really have a pattern so I just decided to make up one as I went and made this fun, & bright beanie with some lovely yarn I got at Hobby Lobby.

I like the end result and I love my hat but I hate knoocking! LOL!  It took my a week to finish it in between orders and other daily tasks. It was slow and since I taught myself to knit in the past few months, I think I could have whipped it up faster on my circular needles. It was fun to try something new though! Have you tried to knoock? Did you like it? Share some comments below! I'd love to know what you think!!

Lego Head Earflap Hat - Free Crochet Pattern

Today is a special day! It's my little guys 5th Birthday! I can hardly believe it! He's having a Lego Themed Birthday so I though it would be fun to make a Lego Head hat for him. Since it's chilly and I know he'd wear it a lot I made it with bulky yarn and tight stitches. Plus if you choose to make a more detailed lego face you have a good base to sew it on. I only had time to do one size and I made it to fit him specifically. Maybe soon I'll have more sizes for the base hat. I can tell you if your good at sizing you can still work the 1st few rows (1-4) the same and increase to size need from there. I tried a Nb-3 month to be sure and it's good. I hope you enjoy it!

Sunset Slouchy Hat - Free Crochet Pattern

So my hubby has been obsessed with me making slouchy hats for him lately.  I've been looking for the perfect slouchy hat pattern and tried a few but wasn't really meeting exactly what I was looking for. I was being lazy and didn't want to work out a pattern for myself but I was inspired by some lovely new yarn I saw at Michaels. It's called Vanna's Choice Twists. You don't get much in a skein it's only 2.5 oz but the colors are gorgeous. There are 6 fun color twists to choose from. I went with the Twilight that is Deep charcoal with light grey, dusty blue, purple, and dark mauve multicolor wrap. I bought  2 skeins and had enough to make my hat and a matching one for Calleigh. She was pretty excited & I love this hat.

I hope you enjoy this pattern. It's really simple and I think it has the perfect amount of slouch. If you want super slouchy just add a few more rows of the dc. This hat is perfect for guys and gals. I'll try to get pics of the hubby in his slouch soon ;) I made him one with some awesome Neons from Hobby Lobby's I love this yarn.

So here is a super quick project that you can make for your daughters bitty baby doll (American Girl) or  it also works as a Preemie hat for about a 4-5lb baby.

New Divine Beanie

I'm totally in love with a new free beanie pattern I came across several months back. I finally took the time to make it and I'm glad I did. It's called the Divine Beanie and you can find it for free here along with a few other unique hats, and amigurumi crochet patterns.

I choose to make this beanie in a grey tone of Charcoal. Shades of grey are very in style for our winter months ahead. I'm not usually fond of grey myself because I think is washes my snow white skin out...LOL! I do however love this dark charcoal grey. If you have lighter skin just stay away from lighter shades.

I really liked how easy this was to make despite how intricate it looks. I love the texture and the swirl effect. It's also a little thicker than a regular beanie so it should keep you nice and toasty in the fall.

I look forward to making more of these in other colors and size. If you decided to make some too let me know I'd love to see a picture.

If you don't crochet and love this hat as much as I do.  You can purchase it in my artfire shop in a several sizes. Feel free to ask for other colors too!

Bright Colors Cotton Cluster Beanie

I recently won a crochet pattern from The Speckled Frog. I've bought a few from her in the past and I always love them . I had lots of fun summer cotton colors left over in small amounts so I thought I thought I would come up with a way to use them together. This is what I came up with.

Don't you just love the flower cluster. I had a free pattern for them but I can't find the link. I think it was a limited time free one. Sorry ;(

I just love the way it turned out!
