Emma June Photography

One of the hardest things for me is finding fabulous photographers. I've been blessed to work with many over the past year. I can't tell you how many emails a day I get of photographers asking to work with me. It's a little overwhelming! While I do work with photographers at random I like to have a few I can always go to!

I've recently had the opportunity to get to know Dawn of Emma June Photography! We had a commonality because she used to live in Oklahoma City and she crochets her own props for her photography. She's tested many patterns for me and is great at finding small details I tend to miss!

She's graciously going through some of my older patterns and helping me get images for ones that I never had a chance to get done on a little baby for various reasons. (Will just call those learning experiences and lost in process props that I've not got around to making again.)

She's already sent me some great photos to use (you can see those scattered through out this post!) I'm getting very excited to see more images of her fabulous work!  She really is a great newborn photographer! I hope to meet her if she ever comes back to OKC!  You can see more of her work on Facebook! Go give her page some love and let her know Calleigh's Clips sent ya!

Now I know your going to ask!
How do you choose your photographers and how can I be a crochet pattern tester?

1. I like to work with a few photographers exclusively. I always go to them 1st. If they can't do it I'll offer it up to another.

2. I'm very picky! I don't just work with anyone. Props aren't free upfront for new photographers. I require a test process.
     a. You must pay full price for one item
     b. Photograph it properly in use with in a few weeks of arrival.
     c. Send me 3-4 images of it in use at different angles and using proper lighting so you can see the
true colors of the prop. Think more product shoot than baby on a few shots
     d. If I love what you've done. I'll offer a refund of half the cost.
    e. After that if I do continue to work with you we'll work out a deal.

The best advise I can give anyone when it comes to finding the right photographer
1. Find someone local. Do a little networking.
2. Build a relationship with them. Keep a good line of communication.
3. Be their go to prop person and give them extras :)
4. Their work is just as important as yours and that editing process is a lot of work too!
5. Don't settle! If you don't care for a style of a photographer don't work with them. Love them or leave them! You need to find what works for you!

Now back to pattern testers- How to do you choose?

I do have a few behind the scenes pattern testers, same as my photographers I go to them 1st. The others are chosen at random. I post on my Facebook wall and open it up to a few people. I try to choose different people every time. If you do a really good job then I just might contact you again. The problem I find is most people don't find the small stuff, punctuations, grammar, typos, spacing and more! I need those suggestions and corrections. After I've read the pattern for like the millionth time it starts to all look the same. That's why I like to put other eyes on it! So you just have to be in the right place at the right time.

If you have more questions.  You're always welcome to ask ;)

Goodger Photography and more

So I've been a bit of a blog slacker but it's a good thing. My cuddle critter capes have taken flight and my sales have grown immensely so I've been crocheting like crazy. I'm so excited for the future of my business at this point and can't thank my wonderful fans and customers enough for your support.

Another exciting note - I got to meet up with a fabulous local photographer Christy Goodger of Goodger Photography. She isn't just any photographers. She is an amazing newborn photographer and honestly I'm more than thrilled to be working with her. You've got to check her work out! If you want pictures that you'll love for a lifetime she's totally worth it! If your local to the OKC metro- she has a darling studio in downtown Bethany, OK.

You can visit her on Facebook or her website for more info.

What you wanted to see pictures .....OH Ok here are a few!

I loved her idea to put an owl in the hanging basket like a little nest.

Cute! Baby bear hat

even more precious is two babies!

She's got a bag full of props and I'm so excited to see more images soon!
Thanks Christy!

On a whim.....

On a whim we had some family photo's taken. Jerry Palmer a good photographer friend of ours was in OKC for a wedding a few weeks ago so we planned a little photo session.  He also did our engagement and wedding photos.

We on a quick 5 minute photo shoot took a few family pics at Lake Hefner by the lighthouse. It was supposed to be a warmer than usual and a  sunny day but if you know the weather in Oklahoma it changes all to quick. It ended up being very cold and windy. So he took a lot of quick shots with his fabulous camera and here is a few of what we got! I have to say I love how they turned out in this short moment!

My darling guys!

Me and Calliegh (sporting Calleigh's Clips Items of course)

On a side note check out almost all of the owl hats and a hammock I've had to make for orders this week! I thought things would slow down in January and I'm glad they didn't!

I'll smile for cookies

On this lovely fall day The weather is just perfect here in Oklahoma City today! After teaching piano lessons this morning I thought it was only fair to let the little ones and myself enjoy some backyard time! Which for me is just having fun snapping photos of the kids being cute. Of course I had to have a bribe! and I know I'd smile for cookies!

Funny Face

I've been busy this week preparing to start teaching private piano lessons at Heartland Baptist Bible College and finishing up orders so I've not had time to share much. So I though a few pictures would be fun. This was from Sunday afternoon after church. Calleigh was just full of fun funny faces. She is 15 months now and just growing like a weed. I just love her giggle. She's such and girlie girl and I love it. She has fallen in love with baby dolls and her blanky and is always carrying them around. Have a great weekend everyone.

Oh and I couldn't leave out little man! he picked out this pic. It was cell phone photo from Target some time this summer. The Starbucks inside were handing out Frap samples and we got this super cute photo!

Smile & Enjoy!

RM Photography - Cocoon/Pod

RM Photography

Rm Photography is run by a friend of our family Rebecca Manney! Let me tell you she takes fabulous pictures. We did a family photo shoot in April 2008 before we had Calleigh and we got some fabulous photos that I still have up in the living room today.  This wasn't just any photo shoot. It was a very windy day at the Myriad Gardens in Oklahoma City, OK with a very active 18 month old and a very prego me.  We had a blast and got some great candid shots. She didn't stop for a minute chasing Ayden all over.
I don't have files to share photos with you or I totally would.

Rebecca takes a photojournalist approach in the photographs. That means she likes to photograph you being you. No stiff poses just fabulous shots of walking, talking, laughing. It doesn't stop there though. Any one can take photos but she really knows what she is doing with her camera and she edits very well. I think It takes extra special attention to detail to edit and she does just that.
You have to check out her photos on her blog: RM Photography .

Even though she's been doing photos for several years now she recently decided to venture out and do photography full time. She is already very successful and I know she'll do great. If you are in the OKC metro area and need a photographer that will take photos you'll cherish forever I highly recommend her.

She recently bought a baby cocoon/pod from me and had a few darling shots to share. I love having great photos of my products in use. If you're interested in purchasing this or other photo props you can browse my etsy shop.

RM Photography can also be found on facebook

These photos are copyright protected and are not to be redistributed or altered in any form.

If you're a photographer and your interested in any photo props I do work out special discount pricing for pictures in return just email me if your interested. I don't do this with just anyone that "says" they are a photographer and will determine who is eligible to receive discounts based on your work and I can be pretty picky :)

Weekend Creations

Every weekend I try to create something new. I had lots of ideas and some extra time so I have several to share.

1st up is the Giraffe Hat! I found this adorable pattern from The Crafty Tortoise. You can find her blog here or visit her etsy shop. I wanted the pattern but was going to wait. It happened that a friend asked if I could custom make one. Here it its!

2nd: Lady bug Earflap Hat

This is my own creation. My Mother in law and I both  love ladybugs so I just had to create this for Calleigh. I just love the little swirly antennas. I have more ideas on creating multi-color dot hat. I just love polka dots too!

3rd one - Bumble Bee Set

I hadn't had a chance to share a diaper cover that I liked yet. mostly just played around with the one pattern I have. I though this would bee a perfect set ;) I got the bee set Idea from The Inner Hooker. The diaper cover pattern is hers and the hat is my own design. This would make a cute newborn photo prop. I love the little curly stinger on the diaper cover! It's all in the details. I can't wait to make more diaper cover sets.

Stocking Cap

Here is my newest creations. I love how the colors came together. I made this one to fit my Calleigh but these are super cute on newborn babies especially for photos. I've decided to venture out on some new items for photography props. Who doesn't just love pics of newborn babes? My goal is to make them even more adorable with soft accessories such as hats, diaper covers, sleeps sack, coocons, hammocks and more!

Here are a few other items I've recently made for a friend that will be having her 1st baby any day now.
If you interested in any of these items or would like to customize your very own items just send me an email- Calleighclips@att.net . I aim to please by making quality products at an affordable price. If you are a photographer and are interested in props please let me know. I'd love to partner up with some of you to get some professional photos of these items being used.

Square Pom Pom Hat

I've been looking at a lot of baby photography crochet props lately and I came across this amusing yet super cute square shaped hat with pom pons. This was my first attempt with out a pattern on hand and it's cute but I need to work on the pom pons and work in some fun colors. This works great for both boys and girls.

This particular hat is a newborn size hat and makes a fun hat for my son to play with on Curious George! I think it's fits his spunky personality . *smiles* . I can be made in any size! If you'd like one just let me know. I love to customize.

Since I've not done alot for boys I'd like to implement more Items for them. Keep your eyes out for more items in the coming weeks. I'll be working on a newsboys hat this afternoon.

Two questions:

1. What types of crochet items would you love to see for boys?

2. What kind of color combos would you love to see for boys?

I'll be working on a baby yellow and green just because we love John Deere around my house and I have lots of it :)
