Today is a exciting yet sad day for me! My sweet hubby has been working at Hobby Lobby Corp. for 5 years! Today is his last day! I'm sure going to miss my discount! Aside from that this is a wonderful change for my hubby and our family!
My hubby has been working very hard at Hobby Lobby in transportation, part time as a reserve policy officer and going to academy this past year. He graduated a few months back but He will officially start as a full time officer Jan 2016. I'm very proud of him. He's wanted to be an officer for as long as we've been together and I'm so glad to see his dream finally come true!
These changes bring on more changes in the next few month but I'll share those as they come about! I see a move by next summer and some adjustment as schedules change and such! I don't mine change but the next few months are going to be a bit of a roller coaster.
My hubby asked me to make some hats for some of his officer buddies for Christmas.
So I thought I'd write up a simple pattern for a Thin Blue Line Beanie.
It works up quick and is an average Man/Women Size Beanie.
I may add sizes as I have time but for now it's just the one.
I hope you will make these in support of our Police Officers or for an Officer you know!
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have a wonderful day with family and friends! I'm excited for our festivities and lots of yummy food! I probably should have gone for a run this morning lol! Maybe tomorrow! Anyhoo on to the sale!

I really love cotton washcloths! I was in need of some new bathroom ones so I went to my stash to see what I had and here is what I came up with! A unique textured washcloth with a few different looks.
Nubbin’ Washcloth
My color choices were inspired by a theme I have in my master bath and bedroom. I love poppy's and the colors in this pic inspired me to use orange, green and cream. I thinking now I wish I added some yellow too but I just used what I had.
What you'll need
H-hook (5.00mm)
Lily's Sugar N Cream I just used my scraps but I made all these 5 with about 3-4 of the smaller balls that you can find in most craft stores.
Measures approx 9 x 9 inches, gauge isn't essential. NOTES:
**Need Help with the stitch pattern? See video below the pattern! ** See 4 unique ways to make this Washcloth below the pattern before you start.
Row 1: ch 31, sc in 2nd ch from the hook, *pull up a loop in same st as last st made and in next 2 sts, YO and draw through all 4 loops on hook, ch 1(NOTE: work ch 1’s loosely through out the pattern as you’ll be working into it on the next round), repeat from * across, sc in last st, ch 1 turn
Row 2: sc in 1st st, *pull up a loop in same st as last st made and in next 2 sts, YO and draw through all 4 loops on hook, ch 1(NOTE: work ch 1’s loosely through out the pattern as you’ll be working into it on the next round), repeat from * across, sc in last st,, ch 1 turn
Rows 3-24: Rep Row 2
Edging: sc in each st around, be sure to work 2 sc in each corner. Join to 1st sc with sl st.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Here are a few different ways I used this pattern for some unique looks.
1st is a basic solid color
2nd Change yarn colors every 2 rows.
This is will give you two different looks. One on each side of the washcloth
This is the front
This is the back
3rd Change yarn every other row for a unique texture
Must use 3 or more colors.
This is my favorite one! I just love the unique look.
4th Change yarn every 8 rows using 3 colors.
This is will give you big bulky strips
I hope you enjoy making some new washcloths! Be sure to pin these or add to your Ravelry Favorites for later!
I love when I get to make something new and try out other patterns. I came across this designer that has some adorable designs for boys called One Paisley Pig .
I picked up all the sizes newborn to Adult sizes because I needed the two size patterns so why not add in the larger size too! Plus it's cheaper if you bundle them together!
I might have to make me a pair to keep my toes warm when we visit Colorado for Christmas!
They got lots of snow the past few days where my parents live.
I have to say the pattern was written well. These worked up perfect to the measurements. There are a few picture helps to guide you through some steps. I love that there are stitch counts at the ends of the rows/rounds. Thats important to me on booties as I need to make sure I get two perfectly the same. I used to have bootie making phobia! I love to make them now.
They're so cute and tiny!
When I did have a few questions the designer got right back to me. I know that is something I work really hard at and it's important to me. The hardest part was finding the D-rings so I asked her if she had any suggestions. She orders off Ebay. None of my normal hobby shops had them in store, but I thankfully not only found some on Amazon. I got a good deal, in bulk, and they shipped to me with in two days (no I'm not a prime member) I just made sure they were shipping from within the USA. I ended up getting 100 for 7.99 shipped this was the 1/2 inch size.
Anywhoo! Here are the three pairs I've made so far! I look forward to making more!
If your crochet check out the pattern in ravelry from One Paisley Pig
Don't crochet? I'm happy to make you a pair. Here is the listing to purchase in Etsy!
It's been a while since I designed something new. I wanted to think outside my normal box and broaden my design skills.
Poncho's seem really popular this year and so does fringe accents. I'd never made one but I wanted it to feel modern and trendy. I came up with what I'm calling the Orbital Poncho.
The name comes from the Orb shaped stitches used in the pattern.
This poncho is a one size fits most and I think pretty easy to make longer if you wanted too. I love how quickly it works up, plus it doesn't use too much yarn! It's made in all one piece so there is no joining or sewing pieces together.
This is wonderful for anytime of the year too! It's a perfect layering piece.
It's also one of my new favorite items to wear!
The poncho is open on the sides, so I like to wear it belted. You could also easily sew down the side seams for a more shirt/pullover type piece too! I hope you'll enjoy this new pattern!
There is nothing better than a quiet moment to yourself with your yarn! Lately I've been working to shut off the noise and to reflect on my quiet time while I work on my creations.
I was so excited with the opportunity to review a new devotional book! It's perfect timing! This wonderful new book is called Knit, Purl, Pray - 52 Devotions for the Creative Soul by Lisa Bogart.
Don't worry crocheters this book is for you too! It really could be for anyone crafty. I've read through several of the devotions already and they have each spoken to my heart. It's light reading with a simple verse and thoughts to reflect on. Most readings are just a page or two!
Sometimes for me working with yarn, well, is work and this book has reminded me about the things I truly do love about working with my hands and yarn. This book feels like your having chat with a friend that understands your craft.
It's helped remind me to be a blessing to others with my craft and oh so much more. So thankful for the simple truths and reflections in this book. It's a great addition to your day.
I was also thrilled to see that there are four knit patterns included in the book. A great slouchy beanie and three coffee cozies. I'll admit I don't knit much but I do know the basics. I love cabling so I just had to make all the coffee cozies! I love them and learned some new technics along the way!
I'll have to make that hat soon too!
I used some lovely pale shades of Hobby Lobby's I Love This Yarn Worsted. Aren't they pretty!
Fits perfectly on my cups! Crocheted up several washcloths too! New pattern coming for those soon!
Coffee, Crochet and Quiet time go perfectly together! If you would love to pick up this book you can find it on Amazon Knit, Purl, Pray
You can also get to know the author Lisa Bogart on Facebook
Thank you Worthy Publishing for sending the book to me! It's fabulous!
haha I've actually been on a yarn freeze this year.
I've been really good actually. Working really hard to use what's in my stash! I think I only splurged a few times.
I seriously used to buy $50-100 worth of yarn a week just for fun to stay up to day and try the latest yarns.
I wish I could still do that but life and unforeseen medical expenses have put a damper on that. So the good news is those expenses are almost taken care of. Maybe I'll get to play again soon with your help in participating in the sale.
In the mean time I'll show some extra love to skeins that are lonely and need some lovin' in my stash! I'm really excited for my next projects. I found some pretty gems that are currently on my hooks.
In the mean time I have 100's of pattern free and paid that you can have fun with.

I'm really having fun coming up with a new headpiece each month. This October I was drawn to fall. I was inspired while out on a morning run. I had to avoid jogging across many acorns that had fallen off a the trees. I thought they were cute though and it would be fun to design something around that theme.
If you are not familiar with the headpieces. They are basically hats for small dogs, cats or stuffed animals. My kids love to dress up their critters!
My sweet Lucy doesn't enjoy wearing these so much haha,
but she will endure it long enough for me to bribe her with a treat!
for Testing the pattern. Max is usually a great model but he's having some allergy issues so he looks a little sad but he really loves to show of his mommy's creations! Be sure to check out her blog for lots of free patterns for dogs and of course for humans too!
