Priscilla Crochet Top: Review

Recently I had the itch to crochet something entirely different than anything I've ever made before. I was kinda in a funk the last few months and needed a pick me up when it came to crochet. Often times when you sell items you have to make the same thing over and over.
I wanted to make something just for me that was out of my normal box!

I have lots of patterns in my raverly library that I've picked up over time and so I started browsing for one that was begging to be made! The beautiful Priscilla Crochet Top  practically screamed at me! "MAKE ME, MAKE ME! "

This pattern is by the amazing Viktoria Gogolak of CrocheTrend.

I've made several of her designs before and I just love them all. She has an amazing talent for design. They are always very unique. She has a way with texture and making great pattern come to life!

Priscilla Crochet Top: Made by Elisabeth Spivey

This Crochet Top she designed for Design Wars using Red Heart Unforgettable yarn! I really like that yarn but I wanted to use something I had on hand.
I browsed my stash and found three skeins of Bernat Mosaic in the Ninja Colorway.
Beautiful shades of Purple/blues/grey. I crossed my fingers that is would be enough because I knew it was a discontinued yarn. (It was just enough for the size I needed)

This is made with triangle shaped motifs with a join as you go method. I really enjoyed the gorgeous motif design. The join as you go method could be a little tricky as I went but it wasn't to hard to figure out just had to make sure I was crocheting in the right spaces. If I got distracted I would mess up. At least crochet is easy to fix.  It came together over a matter of a week or so as I found time to work on it! It was neat to watch it come together with the variegated yarn.

I only made a few minor changes. The design is meant for a more off the shoulder look but I didn't personally want to wear it that way so I added some extra decreases on the edges to bring it higher and tighter for more of a tank top look.

For one that hasn't made to many intricate crochet garments this came out perfect and fit great. I made sure to measure  and check my gauge 1st (as you should) since I used a different yarn.
The yarn drapes really nicely for the garment.

I didn't block it but I think the bottom edge would lay better if I did so I'll do that eventually. Just haven't taken the time to do it. I'm very pleased with the way it turned out!
It was fun and sparked my love for crochet again! I would highly recommend this design and many of her others crochet creations. You will not be disappointed.

What do you think? Would you make one? Do you love my purple orchid hair!?! It actually looks nothing like that now! I chopped it all off and now have a Purple Pixie! :) I loove it!

I'm going to share a blog about my hair adventure soon over on my new blog
Check it out!  I'll be keeping my more personal posts over that way so we don't clutter this crochet blog with to much non crochet, but it will be a great way to get to know me if you want :)

Firefighter Set - Crochet Pattern Review

HI! I'm really enjoying my vacation in Colorado but of course I still brought some yarn along. I've had opportunity to make some last minute orders and brainstorm some future plans in my crochet business. I just finished a super cute set I had to share with you and I'll hopefully have a new pattern for you soon!

My sweet neighbors are having their 1st baby. The new dad is a firefighter so of course I have to make their new little bundle a firefighter set! Hubby got all the details and I whipped this up over the past few days!

The Firefighter Helmet is a pattern by Micah Makes! I knew she had the best pattern around! So I quickly purchased it and added it to my collection! I love supporting other designers!
The pattern was perfect and so easy to follow! I would highly recommend it to anyone!

Next up was the boots! I used my Cowboy Boot Pattern From The Lovely Crow! I modified the last few rows to make more of a pull on boot, but she does have a Rain-boot pattern and a Combat Boot Pattern that would look really cute with this too! I may have to add those to my collection too! She has some of the best booty patterns! I'm one that had booty phobia! They never came out right until I used her patterns! Perfect every-time!!

Last part of the Set is the Pants! I combined two of my own patterns with a few changes.
I think I will write up this pattern for you soon.

UPDATE - NEW PATTERN RELEASED

If anyone is interested in purchasing this set I'll be listing it in my Etsy Shop soon!
I really want to add a line of police, fire, military and more to the shop!

July Stitch Fix No. 2 Review

HI! I decided to give Stitch Fix a 2nd try!
I had so much fun the 1st time I had to do it again!
 I'm so glad I did.

So long story short I've been having fun dying my hair crazy colors this summer and I was like oops I may need to stick with neutral colored clothing since my hair might clash lol. So I was a little nervous since I'd asked for a fun summer colorful tops before I dyed my hair, but again I love everything in the box. Last time I said I was going to keep everything but after showing hubby he really only liked the dress so I sent everything else back. This time hubby liked everything too and even talked me into keeping it all!

 Okay so are you ready!!
Here is StitchFix #2!

Oh and if you don't know what Stitch Fix is it's a personal styling service. You tell them what you like, Pin some inspiration, sent them some notes of things your might be looking for and then they send you 5 hand picked items.

#1 Pixley
Jakobe Chevron Print Maxi Dress

So seriously I squealed when I saw this dress. It's similar in style to the last maxi but she knows my favorite color is purple. Um so this dress totally matches my hair and I love it!
It's so comfy, fits amazing and is so perfect for summer! I LOVE IT!!

#2 Bancroft
Bowen Layered Chain Necklace

#3 Market & Spruce
Barrymore Solid Pleat Detail Top

#4 Renee C
Melissa Mixed Geo Print Pencil Skirt

I wasn't sure how the coral would go with my hair but I like it! I already love coral and had to get rid of a few coral tops that I had because they were to big after loosing weight.
This will make a great replacement.

I don't usually wear a lot of gold. I like this necklace a lot.
Plus is pairs great with the dress and this coral top.

This skirt is awesome. I specifically ask for a pencil skirt. While I had a solid in mind.
I love the Navy & White geo print and it's so comfy and slimming.
While it's a little form fitting it's not "tight."

I tried it on with a couple other solid tops I have and it will be a great skirt to mix and match!
It has a maxi skirt type fit and you could easily wear it higher or lower for different lengths.

I love that my stylist put an outfit together for me. That doesn't always happen with Stitch Fix!

#5 Mo:Vint
Macedonia Cardigan
I had also asked for a cardigan. I was kinda thinking for along the lines of a solid to wear over dresses but I love this so much! haha! It's light weight and has long sleeves but you can roll them up and button them for 3/4 length. I love the casual look of it. While I won't wear it much in the summer it will be great for fall. I could style this so many different ways too! Love me some black and white! I wasn't going to keep it but hubby really liked it so it's mine!

I also like that stitch fix provides style cards so you can look in your closet and see how you can match it up with items you might already have or help you think outside the normal box!

Hubby said I could so I'm keeping everything this time! Everything fit and works for me and my new radiant orchid hair! Don't you just love it!! I'm so glad I dyed it! I'll save my hair journey of June for another post. I learned some thing to do and not to do and how to fix it!

Do you like any of my looks for your stitch fix? Pin them to your Pinterest board or ask your stylist for any of the pieces!!

Note: I'm not paid by Stitch Fix to do these posts. These are my personal opinions on my service. However if you sign up for Stitch Fix and schedule your 1st box I will recieve a $25 credit!
What do you think? Would you give it a try? I'm so glad I did!
