Runner's Reflective Headband Crochet Pattern

These past few months have been all about branching out and doing new things! I took up running to help on my fitness journey! So I thought that it would be good to branch out and try new things in crochet too! I'd tried Tunisian crochet before and made a washcloth. I didn't enjoy it at all and swore I'd never do it again.

I've gotten the opportunity to get to know the wonderful Kim Guzman (Queen of Tunisian some would say)! She has an amazing series of free videos on Tunisian Crochet.
I sat down and watch most of them in one day!

I decided it would be fun to work up a very simple beginner Tunisian headband. I had some fun reflective yarn left over from another project and it was still chilly in the mornings when I ran so this is were this little gem was inspired from!  I hope you enjoy this freebie and try to branch out and try something new too!

This was written as if you already understand Tunisian crochet but there are links below so you can learn the same way I did. I made one in a Tunisian Simple Stitch and one in the Tunisian Knit Stitch. The TSS doesn't have a lot of stretch but I like it because it's warm but not super thick. The TKS is thicker and a little stretchier.  I also thought it worked up faster. You can use either stitch in the pattern interchangeably.

Also note that you do not have to have a Tunisian or Afghan hook to make these. I use a regular boye hook with a little bit of clay on the end of  it but it was enough room to work it. You can also just put a rubber band on the end of the hook or my mom recommends a pencil top eraser.

Please note this is my 1st Tunisian pattern, this has been tested but if you find errors or if there is a more proper way to write a "Tunisian" Pattern don't hesitate to let me know so I can fix it!

Hi, your pattern is adorable. I'm making these for a charity event. I ran into a problem with row 13, though. It says to do 2 tss, make 1, tss, make 1, and then tss in last 3. I don't understand because there are only 6 sts to work on and not 8. Please help!

HI Makenzie - Yes there are only 6 to start with but with two M1 sts (Make one) You'll be adding in two stitches - This begins your increase rows. Ending with 8. I Hope that clarifies.

Thanks! I figured out what you meant just minutes after I posted that comment. I'm new to tunisian crochet, and this is the first time I've used the make 1. So far I've made two headbands, one knit stitch, one simple stitch, and they are both beautiful! Your pattern is great!
