Summer Sale Extravaganza!

Hello my fellow stitchers! I've been meaning to run a crochet pattern sale and now is finally the right time. Okay I'll be real. Usually when I run a sale it's because I need some extra $. My awesome mom of Posh Poosh Designs is flying in for a visit next week but it's only for a day because we are going on a road trip back to her home Colorado for a few weeks! School will be out in two short weeks and I plan to soak up the sun with my kids this summer. I'm working very hard on a few designs, they are just bigger projects so it will be a bit before they are ready. 15,000 Facebook Fan Celebration!

WOW! I can't hardly believe it! In just a few short months Calleigh's Clips will have been in business for five years! We just rolled 15K Facebook fans and I think that is just amazing.

I'm going to be open on honest with you! Business isn't as busy for me as it was a few years ago. Some of that is partially due to me taking a step back the last 8 months but I knew that is what I was supposed to do for my family and for me! It was the best decision, but that took a bit of a hit for our finances. God has provided in so many ways and I'm thankful. Unfortunately we can't seem to hit a break about not needing to visit the emergency room or hospital visits over the summer.

 I can count on both hands!!! I'm out of fingers :(  

 My little man fell at the playground this summer and broke his elbow and had to have surgery and those bills are coming in. WOW! Yikes! 

My sweet hubby sliced open two different fingers two different times while helping my bro with his Jeeps. 

I had to have a planned proceeder done that unfortunately my insurance doesn't completly cover.  

My sweet Calleigh well she's going to need her eyes checked. 

She ran very hard into a wall the other day! She is fine but that bump and black eye wasn't pretty. 

A little too much excitement in the last few months. 

 We are doing great and everyone is okay, 

but we really need to make some extra money to pay for these unexpected doctor bills, 

boy did they add up fast! Lets just say $6,000 to $8,000 after insurance.

Summer CAL- Crochet Scalloped Top - Week 2

I hope you're excited for Week 2 of our Summer CAL. I know many of you have dived right in and might already have week 2 done but many have had questions so I hope that this blog post will help you complete this weeks section. 

If you are just joining us there is plenty of time to participate, because week one was just gathering supplies and getting to know the pattern. Click week 1 below for full details and tips we discovered to help you along the way! 

Week 1 - 

Week 2 -  Back and Sleeves finished this week. 

Week 3 - Front and Sleeves (same as the back)

Week 4 - Finishing, joining and shaping shoulders. 

Here is my completed back. I've run into a small snag though. While my length is long enough my width is short by about 10 inches. I tend to crochet tight and have issues with Simply Soft so I'm sure it's just me. I'm going to make the front larger and that should give me the room I need so it's not tight. I'll be sure to let you know how I adjust when I get there. It shouldn't be to hard. 

I've had a lot of questions on the sleeves. So I thought I'd take pics and see if I can help explain it a little further than the pattern. 

If you look at the sleeves it says to join to the left end of last row. My hook is showing were you should be joining and ch 14.

The image below I have my back scrunched up but you'll see the ch 14 & ch 18 on the opposite end. 

note that even though it's ch 18, 4 ch's count as a dc & ch1. I'll explain that further below. 

When you move onto the the "next" row you'll need to look back to the setup row (when you worked in ch's) and a combination of row 1 of back. You'll need to keep the same pattern you had doing the back. It should match up all the same. If you need further help just ask in one of our group and we'll help you out!

This is a great pattern if you haven't worked with Handspun Thick & Thin yarn! 

This is also a very versatile pattern. It included a basic Beanie, Gnome Beanie and instructions on how to add a chinstrap. 

I tell you exact yarn to get. With thick & thin there are lots of options and it's good to make sure you get the right type. You can't order by weight. You need to order by WPI and yardage! If you have questions I can help a little and let you know where I buy mine from!
