First Treasury and First Sale on Etsy!

I'm so excited with how my first week on Esty has gone. In just a few days My Black/White and Hot pink cluster beanie made it into a treasury!  Check out all the cute Black/ White and Hot pink items that were chosen with it.

Today I had my first sell on etsy and it also was the same beanie. I don't know if the treasury had anything to do with it but I'm excited either way. I also sold a few other items aswell to the same person. So we're off to a really great start!

My mother of Posh Pooch Designs Dog Clothes and I decided we'd add a few of her crochet items and patterns along with mine and eventually she may have her own shop but we're hoping it will bring in more traffic for both of us to get started for now.

One of her dog sweater sets we featured in a treasury : My Harvest Carnival as well on it's first day in shop.  She also made her first sale today of her Skull Cap Pattern for Small dogs.

We're off to a great start and we are both excited about Etsy!

Bright Colors Cotton Cluster Beanie

I recently won a crochet pattern from The Speckled Frog. I've bought a few from her in the past and I always love them . I had lots of fun summer cotton colors left over in small amounts so I thought I thought I would come up with a way to use them together. This is what I came up with.

Don't you just love the flower cluster. I had a free pattern for them but I can't find the link. I think it was a limited time free one. Sorry ;(

I just love the way it turned out!

We're on Etsy!

Since I first started Calleigh's Clips I've contemplated selling on Etsy! I've really struggled with it because you had to pay to list the items and if they don't sell I'm losing money. We literally have 100s of different items so I knew I couldn't list them all right at first. Well since we've been in business I've been setting aside funds to get it going and I think now is a good time. I've only got 5 items in the shop and I'll slowly be adding new ones. I'm so very excited about this new adventure and I really hope it pays off :)

Who doesn't love etsy! I've found so many new creations and inspirations from it! I've also met some fun people through purchases through it. I can't wait to explore the big world that etsy is. If you have an etsy shop or shop on etsy I'd love to exchange Etsy heart's since I'm new I could really use some :)

So come explore Calleigh's Clips and Crochet Creations on Etsy!

Feel free to post links on my blog for your shops and tell me about your etsy experiences as shoppers and sellers.

Review- Sara Mills Photograpy

I recently discovered the world of crochet photography props for newborns and children! I'd been networking to find some photographers that would be willing to take some professional photos for Calleigh's Clips. I made acquaintance with Sara Mills of Sara Mill Photography and she will be photographing several items over the next few weeks. First up is our zebra with hot pink polka dot trim bandana dress and M2M bow. We'll have more great pics to feature soon.

These were used with permission from Sara Mills Photography. Please do not copy or misuse these pictures in any form.

Koala Bear Earflap Hat

I've been on a earflap hat kick for the fall. I had a customer request a custom made Koala bear earflap hat. I took my basic bear pattern and added in the fuzzy fun fur for the ears! I just love it. If you're looking for a certain animal I'm up for a challenge! I've had a few requests for other types like lions and hedgehogs. I  have a bunny and frog hat pattern I've not had a chance to make. You never know what you'll see next :)

Whoo doesn't love this owl earflap hat

Our newest hat is the Owl earflap hat. I purchased the pattern through a presale from The Inner Hooker. She has great hat and photo prop crochet patterns. I think I have around 10 of them. I've bought most, won a few and tested one.

I've already had four owl hats sold before I even tried it! I just think it so cute. I made this in Dark Brown and Olive Green so that it could be for boys.

These can be made to fit in any size from Newborn to Men/Women's sizes. These can be purchased right here via Paypal in my Artfire Storefront and my Etsy shop

Pink, Purple and Turquoise

New Brown/Grey and Creams variegated! I love this new style!

Want a custom order in your choose colors just ask! I'd love to create on special just for you or your little one!

All things Zebra

I'm on this Zebra print kick! I've been working on new things for The Gift Garden was looking for things more trendy. Zebra and Hot Pink are my top sellers.

First is our new Granny Square hats - I made them with Simply Soft yarn in Black & White with accents in Hot Pink and Lime Green. Don't you just love how the Color pops. These can be made in a variety of size from newborn to adult.

Next is my newest Bandana dress in Zebra print with pink and black Polka dot trim. I love that Bandana Dresses fit 12m - up to 4 years as a dress and still fits 5-7 years olds as a shirt. Of course we can always add more fabric to the bottom to make them longer or cut them to be smaller.
Not only to they grow with your child but there light weight for summer and make a great swim suit coverup  and in the winter you can put a shirt underneath and add some leggings. It's great in all season.
of course I had to make a bow to match !

Another favorite bandana dress is the hot pink zebra! It also comes in lime and orange.

The second bow was inspired by a friend of mine. I'd accidentally bought brown zebra so I had to put it to good use. This is super cute if you love animal prints.

I have a several other animal print ribbons and I'll be working on new flower ribbon bows too! I can't wait to show you more!

If you interested in purchasing any of these items you can visit my Artfire Store front.

Cupcake Purse/Wristlet

I just had to make a cupcake purse! This is my own creation and I just know your little girls will love it. Not only is it a great purse! It makes a great gift bag!

It measures 5 in wide x 6 in deep.

This delicious cake is chocolate on the bottom with lots of buttercream icing and sprinkles on top. Garnished with hot pink cherries :)

Has a drawstring closer that when tied forms to small loops to hold. The small cherries on the end keep those straps securely in place.

I think this would make a great birthday present and better yet great gift bag for  small surprises like clips and bows ;) Ask me about cupcake bows and hat! These can be purchased through my artfire storefront or email me at calleighclips@att.net.

I've been considering writing out this pattern but not completely decided. It would be my first so we'll just wait to see when I find extra time :) Enjoy!

4th of July Feature for Calleigh's Clips

This was the first 4th of July my family and I got to spend together watching fireworks. We had a blast! My kids weren't even scared of all the noise. They just clapped and cheered in amazement. I feel bad but I only have pictures of my lovely Calleigh, my son can't stand still for a second :). Don't you just love her dress !
I was so excited to find out that a beautiful young daughter of one of my customers was featured in her American flag dress and bow on the front page of their local paper. You can check out the article here in the  Suburban Chicago News . Wish Calleigh's Clips had a mention but either way it was pretty exciting for me!

Pricing, Affordability & Time

You may have noticed some pricing changes made to our crochet items. This wasn't an easy decision for  me. I think this part of the boutique is the hardest for me because I want to make a quality product at an affordable price. After much evaluation of my cost of supplies, & time I don't feel I was paying myself enough. Actually I wasn't really considering time in my pricing at all. Time is precious to us all especially time with family. I have two beautiful very young children (2 years and 1 year) and as much as I love to make things for you all family must come first.  So when looking at the pricing please take into consideration it takes 1-2 hrs if not much more depending on size of the project. I've also been given great advise and it's the same advise I use for my piano lesson pricing policy! Don't sell your products so low because people might think that your products aren't made well and don't sell yourself short. I do want to offer great deals for your little darlings! I know how important that is to mothers but at the same time this is my job as a WAHM and if I have to work I would like to be paid for it :)

I also would like to offer  better yarn quality choices, not that I hadn't been but there are more great options out there that I'd love to offer for you. Not everyone may know but there are tons of different styles and brands of yarn out there and they're not all great quality! I strive to use super soft yarn that crochets up beautifully not scratchy and itchy! I hope all you wonderful fans and friends understand. It's been a great 6 months so far and can't wait to see it continue to grow! Thanks for your support and feel free  to let me know your thoughts on this blog! I love your comments and suggestions!
