Free Crochet Pattern : Aubreigh Hat

I'm excited to bring you a new design! I've kinda fallen in love this fall with Pantone's Color of the year Marsala. I really wanted to design a hat using a similar shade. It was actually kind hard to find just the perfect wine color but Hobby Lobby's - I Love This Yarn comes to the rescue as usual for me. It's my favorite worsted weight yarn to work with. The have a gorgeous shade called Aubergine. I didn't even know how to pronounce it, let alone what that even meant. I had to look it up. It's actually an eggplant, which to me is more purple than a wine color. The shade of the yarn isn't really purple to me, it leans to more of a wine burgundy shade. Either way I love it!

I did share a little video blog about the pattern. It's something new I'd like to start up but we'll see if i continue. Feel free to watch it below to see the hat in action on me :)
I think it's going to be my fall favorite.

Now on to the crochet pattern!
Enjoy!

Be sure to add this to your Raverly Favorites!

Holy cow! I've wanted to crochet a hat exactly like this for over two years but I haven't found a pattern. I've asked every crochet friend I have if they could make a hat like this, but no one has. I can't tell you how excited I am to find this today!!! I have three skeins of Aubergine I Love This Yarn yarn which aren't the same dye lot, but I keep trying to make something anyway. The aubergine I know is more of a rich, deep purple, like an eggplant. This is more like the Pantone Marsala. I cannot wait to get home with my H hook and ILTY yarn and get to work on this!!! (Hopefully my Yorkie pup won't "help" me.) Thank you, Elisabeth!!!!

Beautiful hat. I have gotten down to round 32 and do not understand what to do. Could you explain it please?

Same here. I made it to round 32 and do not understand. I've tried to google the stitch and am not finding it either! HELP!

Hi! It's basically an extended single crochet. You'll work into the same stitches over the sl st row. Makes it stiffer for the band.

Elisabeth, I adore this hat and pretty sure I'll have many requests from friends. Thank you for posting it free!
I did not understand row 32, drove myself crazy~~. Cannot thank you enough for your response. Hook back in hand. :)

Can you explain round 32 again please I'm a little lost and it doesn't add up to 80
Thanks

Hi! It's basically an extended single crochet. You'll work into the same stitches over the sl st row. Makes it stiffer for the band. Since your working in the same stitches it should still be 80 same as the previous rounds. I'm planning to make a video for it soon just a busy time of year.

I don't wear hats, but I toyed with the idea of trying one just like this. I love it! And I will definitely be making this one. Thanks you so much!

I am sorry but I couldn't hear you well enough in either video. I am going to have to get speakers or just wind it. I love this hat. Many years ago I had one like this when I was a young lady

I'm sorry. I dont know if it will help but maybe try using headphones if you can. I know my laptop isn't loud but when I use my headphones with it or my phone I can hear really loud. I also watch YouTube through my tv and it gets super loud that way too. It's only recorded on my iPhone so it just the best quality I can provide. Best of luck.
